A simpler handoff, nearby

RC1 focuses on local networks and Bluetooth. Cross-network connectivity and relay experiments are deferred. The downloads below are this release candidate’s installers.

Discover a device on the same local network, confirm trust, then send. The recipient accepts files; progress and integrity checks make the handoff visible.

BLUETOOTH

A short message without a local network

Use Bluetooth for short text and delivery receipts between nearby devices. Bluetooth does not carry files; availability depends on range, permissions and device state.

TRUST

Confirm who you are connecting to

Both devices check and confirm a security code. Contacts and conversation records stay on your device; a device name alone is not proof of identity.

Selected workflows have been tested on a Mac, Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone SE. More devices, permission states and background scenarios remain to be covered.

iOS is supplied privately through Ad Hoc distribution after device registration; there is no universal public IPA. No Windows or Linux installers yet.

SovKit is the communication SDK behind Nearvia. The open-source DevTools workbench helps developers inspect its capabilities and reproduce communication issues.

Before you try it

Network conditions, distribution and local data have different boundaries. Here is what matters for a first try.

Can Bluetooth send files?

No. RC1 uses Bluetooth for authenticated short text and receipts. File transfers use the local network.

Do both devices need to be available?

Delivery needs a usable connection to the other device. Undelivered messages queue on the sender's device. We do not promise always-on background delivery or cloud-hosted offline mailboxes.

Where are my records and files stored?

Contacts and business records stay on your device. Database encryption does not cover received file contents. Deleting your local history does not erase the other person's copy; encryption does not make the connection anonymous.

Can I download an iPhone app now?

iOS uses Ad Hoc distribution: contact the developer to register your device, then obtain a matching installer. It cannot be installed on arbitrary iPhones. Do not post device identifiers in public issues.

What about internet connections?

RC1 prioritizes local networks and Bluetooth. It does not provide internet-wide communication or relay. Earlier cross-network and encrypted-relay experiments remain documented on the roadmap and are deferred.

Progress you can inspect

Device tests cover messages, file integrity, interruption recovery and foreground recovery. Validated subsets, remaining work and public releases are recorded separately.
